What is the Fire Gang?
The Fire Gang is merely a name for the merciless band of villains that is dedicated to achieving total dominion over the realms through shadow games and puppetry tactics. The Fire Gang serves each villain's purposes so long as they serve the queen's purposes in return. Since their supposed 'fall' to the Silver Circle members of the Fire Gang now call themselves mercenaries of a band called Reavers instead when taking on jobs.
What do they do?
Fire Gang members do a LOT
! From minor snatch steals to major quests when a kingdom sends out a cry for help the Fire Gang is always
looking to turn someone else's misfortune to their advantage. Some members might even be sent out to cause a misfortune for the others to correct (at a price of course!). Not only that, all members of the Fire Gang can call upon each other in times of great need for their own reasons to either accomplish a goal or simply to protect their own lives.Answering a call for help!
The Fire Gang has some minor portal hopping ability. The problem with their version of portal hopping is that it is literally one way and requires TWO people to make it work! How this works is simple. One piece puts out a call to another (you can choose which piece you call on and their tattoo will burn to let them know someone is calling on them) but the portal hopping is a blind leap of faith, you have to trust that the person calling you to help them is somewhere you can actually stand with them and you're going in blindly to assist them with whatever it is they are facing.
The portal hopping however only goes ONE direction. Once the call is answered and the piece being called responds, the inside of their Fire Gang cape/cloak opens a portal and they cannot travel back as the portal ONLY works between their cloaks/capes. You exit the other Piece's cape portal and you can ONLY make a portal when you are being called upon. This is the only way they can portal hop. Furthermore, portal hopping in this fashion can only be done within the same realm as the other piece. If one is in wonderland and needs help they can't get a piece in the enchanted forest make a portal to them, the magic simply is not powerful enough. You can also ONLY call upon one Fire Gang member at a time, if the call goes unanswered you can try again with someone else but only the Queen and King can call upon multiple Fire Gang at once but they have to use the portals one at a time.
How does it work?
Every character that joins the Fire Gang does so completely anonymously. This means that you could end up working with a sworn enemy just as much as your own friend! Only evil alignments are accepted into the Fire Gang and since everyone works anonymously when someone's not on a mission they could easily end up fighting against their own comrades of the Fire Gang trying to obtain their own goals. However, if the Fire Gang stands in the way of one of their own member's goals an appeal can be made directly to the Crimson Queen and the Fire Gang can be paid off with one's own resources to relinquish whatever task the group has undertaken. Yes, you can pay off your own team to have them stop obstructing your wicked plans, you just have to make them leaving the quest alone more worthwhile than continuing.
Each character that joins is given a chess piece that represents their position in the Fire Gang. This Chess Piece is enchanted to act as their key into the lair where the Fire Gang meets. This chess piece can also be used to conjure their Fire Gang outfit which is meant to obscure their physical identity (the mask also changes the character's voice), every outfit reflects the owner's chess piece and is generally going to contain the colors red and black. Each outfit is a bit different as the chess piece outfit reflects the owner's personality so use your imagination when describing them!
Hierarchy and positions
Each member of the Fire Gang holds a position named after a chess piece but only for one side of a full chessboard. There are NO white pieces at all amongst the positions. The following positions are organized in order of power and chain of command. In case the Queen or King pieces are unable to command the Fire Gang it falls to those under them and if they are unavailable those under them. Below the chart of positions will be an explanation of what each position is required to do within the Fire Gang.

The Queen controls the board and commands the other pieces, she is the most powerful of the pieces in her own way. She is a master of disguise and can go almost anywhere undetected, she can traverse any path and guides all her pieces as much as possible on their missions whether she joins them directly or aids them from a distance with her subterfuge and trickery. She ultimately decides how things should be handled, which pieces to send for a mission, and which missions should be undertaken in the name of the Fire Gang.King:
The king piece enforces all the rules and regulations of the Fire Gang. He is the final say in settling disputes with hiring parties, grievances between members, and serves as the judge/jury/executioner for those who cross or disrupt the Fire Gang's activities. He is also first in command should the Queen piece be unavailable, if the King and Queen are unavailable it falls to the bishops under them to command the Fire Gang. The King also handles negotiations with all hiring parties once the Queen has decided on which quests to undertake. He is responsible for trying to get the most of their rewards so that the Fire Gang can flourish. He is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of their collected knowledge and assists the Queen in researching their missions beforehand.Bishops:
The bishops are required to be magic users. They are the cunning and powerful pair amongst the pieces. They are to protect and aid their comrades with their magic or undertake missions that call for their powers. In the event of the King and Queen being unavailable Bishop1 takes the Queen's role while Bishop2 takes the King's role. The bishops are charged with collecting knowledge and artifacts of magical use to add to the Fire Gang's vault. They are the only ones beside the King and Queen who can open the artifact vault.Knights:
The knights are the offensive fighters of the Fire Gang and can also be magic users but magic is not required of them. Their job is to take on missions that require a heavy assault or just a strong arm. Knights are charged with being the champions of the King and Queen should a challenge to the Queen's command arise or should a member of the Fire Gang wish to leave. If a physical confrontation is chosen for the leaving process, the Knight fights in the Queen's name and if bested by the piece that wishes to leave may go. Should the knight best the piece trying to leave they are forced to stay and the knight becomes that piece's chaperone. The knights are required to have a great knowledge and skill of war, coordinating armies should the need arise, and weapons expertise. They are also in charge of keeping the Fire Gang's armory stocked, guarded, and maintained.Rooks:
The rooks are the heavy defenders and are required to have an excessive ability to endure both physical and magical assault. They are the protectors amongst the pieces and can withstand massive amounts of damage. They can be magic users but it is not required of them. They are also the medics and healers for the rest of the pieces. They must have an extensive knowledge of healing/medicine as well as physical combat. They are also in charge of guarding the main artifact vault for the Bishops as well as the lair for the rest of the Fire Gang's meetings. The rooks also keep the infirmary maintained and stocked with herbs, potions, and medical supplies.Pawns:
The pawns are the grunts of the Fire Gang and can be magical or non magical. They are the most flexible group amongst the pieces and do the most tasks for the Fire Gang. Pawns can have almost any skill set without any particular requirement. They can be anything from skilled thieves to trained assassins to clever scholars. The pawns are also the most numerous in the group and so have the advantage on group votes in council. While they mainly do the grunt work and simply act as the main force of the Fire Gang for missions most pawns will often be used to gather intelligence as well as items. They have the unique allowance, however to directly dispute any decision made by the queen and call for a challenge, if the pawn can overcome the queen in a battle of wit, skill, or debate the pawn's decision will be allowed to override the queen's previous decision (this can be used to allow another piece to leave the Fire Gang without dispute or forcing that piece to win their freedom).
How does a character join IC?
The joining process is pretty simple, plot out how the Queen would have approached your character IC (in disguise) to draw them into the Fire Gang. Once the basic plot has been worked out your character will receive an enchanted chess piece which is bound to them. To bind the piece to the person the queen weaves the piece into their body with her magic, leaving it as a red tattoo (of their specific chess piece) on their left forearm that they can then summon from within their body to use as their key into the lair or conjure their outfit for Fire Gang functions. This Piece also serves another purpose, to let the Fire Gang members know when they are being called upon. When the queen sends out a call to a specific member or even all members the tattoo or chess piece begins to burn hotly and begins to glow bright red.
Just reply to this post with your character's information and we'll plot something out to have The Queen approach your character IC and draw them into the Fire Gang. Copy/paste the code below and fill it out so we can get started!
Fire Gang Alias: (All aliases should have a theme of Greek monsters from myth, particularly the Fire Gang will follow the theme of Echidna and her children but you can choose other aliases as long as they follow the theme! Remember this is for reasons of protecting the identity of the Fire Gang members!)
Plotter and Profile: (drop these links here so other members can get to know who they're actually working with!)
Position Desired: (this is explained in another section, each position is named for a chess piece.)
Special Skills:(What extra skills does your character have to contribute to the group?)
Solo and group missions
The Fire Gang's members don't entirely require the queen's decision to undertake a mission, they can take up any mission they desire with their Fire Gang disguise so long as they bring a portion of the rewards back to the Fire Gang if they do so. They can undertake missions alone or even use their own chess piece/tattoo to call upon another member of the Fire Gang to aid them in a time of need! Rooks and knights are the ones that should be first to be summoned to act as assistance should troubles arise if your piece's life is in danger!
Do we have to stay anonymous IC?
Not always, the queen discourages it highly but will not punish you if you get tired of wearing your disguise within the lair around your comrades. It may be in one's best interest that they remain anonymous however as they could easily be working with a particular villain that may not care for them. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer after all!
IC Rules of the Fire Gang
1. Fire Gang members are forbidden from knowingly killing each other. Only the King is allowed to kill or execute members of the Fire Gang. If you accidentally
kill a fellow member of the Fire Gang you are likely to be absolved of punishment.
2. Fire Gang members must answer the call of the queen but for other members' calls they can decline or delegate a call to arms to another member.
3. Fire Gang members must uphold their position and respect the chain of command, any disputes must be done in council.
4. Fire Gang must not allow outsiders to know of their identity in connection with the Fire Gang. While other members of the Fire Gang will easily recognize the tattoos strangers and outsiders will likely see them merely as a tattoo. Conjuring your piece or outfit in front of an outsider, however, is likely to be a dead give away so not
doing that is advised.
5. Fire Gang members may socialize amongst themselves incognito or not, it is their choice though it is highly recommended NOT to reveal yourselves to your fellows. They can keep company with each other both on duty and off duty.
6. All missions undertaken for the Fire Gang should benefit the group in some way, it can be any way at all but as long as it furthers their wealth or collective knowledge a mission should not be turned down unless another quest outbids it!
7. You do not always have to be active in the Fire Gang but your character should try to be ICly available for missions from time to time.
So you want to leave?
Once someone joins the Fire Gang they are not allowed to leave. Okay, so that's a lie. You ARE
allowed to leave but you do have to earn your freedom back in some way. In order to free oneself from the Fire Gang they must best The Queen's magics and prove their will stronger or best her champion in physical combat. You can also just run away and hide and hope they don't find you... (Exceptions will be made for characters who were obtained by new players if they do not wish that character to continue taking part in the Fire Gang. If this happens, please just notify me and it will be counted as an automatic win for your freedom and your character shall be released.)
The leaving process is pretty simple if you wish to challenge the queen's willpower and prove you have the strength to leave. The Queen will cast three consecutive spells on your character all you have to do is get lucky and win 2/3 deflecting her spells. You can challenge her as many times as you like if you fail your first attempt. Once you successfully best her magic you may leave without retribution but you must relinquish your chess piece to her and give up your memories of the Fire Gang and being a part of it, all other memories are left intact. Afterwards your character will be transported somewhere isolated, given provisions and a map, and allowed to leave quietly.
If you choose to face her champion in physical combat both players will be asked to create a thread for the battle and the King or Queen will referee the fight. To gain your escape you must land three blows upon the champion before the champion lands three blows on you. You are restricted to performing ONE attack per post however so that the match can be evenly judged. You may challenge for this as many times as you like until you win, you can even fight a different champion each time until you win!
Oath of the Fire Gang
I stand for the pursuit of knowledge, power, and control. I am a piece on the board, locked in the eternal game. Only my comrades can know my true name, all others shall die in flame. We are the revolution, the red of dawn that claims each day. I shall take each task that comes my way. I shall protect my comrades and myself, to harm one is an affront to us all. Each piece knows its part, I carry this truth with me wherever I go, the world is my board and I shall claim my opponents like prizes for even pawns can become queens. My queen to guide my movements, my king to curb me should I step wrong. With my others I belong, I shall heed their calls if they have need. My tasks shall be complete before I sleep, I shall collect and possess for all our sake. I must know before I do, to act without knowledge is to relinquish my control of the game I play. The gods save our queen.
